Good Eating Makes For a Better Meeting
You’ve been here before so you know how good Chef Bob is at his job. Every day, you will enjoy great meals, while sitting with the rest of the Trac II students in the gorgeous, open-air dining pavilion. With a wide range of options throughout the week, you’ll chow down on biscuits, sausage, and grits at the rodeo, a barbecue picnic on the lake lawn, and everything from pita sandwiches to chicken fingers the rest of the week.
During your adventures off property, you’ll be eating food prepared on a campfire, pizza parties in the redwood forest, and trail mix on your mountain climb. Oh, and we know you haven’t forgotten about the snack bar full of milkshakes, pretzels and hot nachos. You definitely won’t be going hungry and you might not want to leave.
Adventure Based
As always, your adventure kicks off with the rodeo games and skit followed by a day at the lake. You know the drill, so be sure to jump in and volunteer for Bully Ball and the Calf Riding Competition and if you happen to accidentally get some guy’s head covered in egg during the Wells Fargo Event – oh well. In the afternoon, you’ll show the Challenge and Second Wind Students how to have fun at the lake and spend some time enjoying your first Snack Bar visit.
The rest of that week you’ll be on the ropes courses, training for your bike ride, and competing in the Amazing Race. After conquering the first week on property, you’ll be trying your hand at paintball and getting to spend a day in Ashland, Oregon after visiting the outdoor Applegate Church.
Then you’ll split off from the mountain crew and start your bike ride from the top of Etna Summit and have two days to make it 109 miles to the Pacific Ocean! When you get there, you’ll get to celebrate with the best tasting pizza you’ve ever earned and spend the night in the hauntingly beautiful Redwood Forest before heading home in the morning for your final day at the Ranch! You don’t want to miss this adventure.
Content Driven
You learned during Second Wind that JH Ranch is not your typical summer camp. You won’t be doing arts and crafts and signing up for other camp activities, but instead you’ll conquering challenges and enjoying adventures. In Trac II, the Big Top Talks will impact you in new ways than before as you have grown and been challenged by life at home since Second Wind, and the Trac II exclusive teachings will go deeper and further in leading you to carefully evaluate your life and the type of person you want to be.
Undistracted Beauty
JH Ranch is perfectly located for the adventure you are looking for. Spread over nearly 1000 remote acres, the Ranch is found fourteen miles outside of the town of Etna, CA, population 560. The Ranch is in the mountains and most summers, you’ll be able to look up and see snow still covering the peaks.
Every day will be spent largely outside enjoying the sun, shade, and fresh mountain air, and when you go off property for your adventure you’ll be in wonder at how beautiful the Scott and Shasta Valley are – not to mention the grandeur of the 14,180 foot Mount Shasta. All in all, you’ll realize again that the Ranch is one of those idyllic places where you can learn how great life is on the Everlasting Adventure.
