Mike and Kim Barnett, Mobile, AL
In a world full of challenges, Mike and Kim Barnett, like most parents, have a desire to get their children on the "right track". Kim was drawn to an article in a local publication about the JH Ranch; she then remembered that a friend had spoken of the Ranch and its impact on their family.
The Barnetts decided that Mike and their daughter, McRae, would attend a Father/Daughter program in 1999. Kim reflects on a phone call she received while they were gone, "They loved it! They would call home so excited to tell me what was going on!"
Two years later, the principles that Mike and McRae learned at the Ranch remained heavy on their hearts and continued to be walked out in their lives. McRae returned to participate in a Second Wind program the following summer, and Mike and their son, Michael, attended the Father/Son week. The Barnett family has now made a total of 10 trips to JH Ranch attending almost every available program!
"This is the kind of thing we want to share with others," Kim stated excitedly. To help them share their passion, the Barnetts signed up to be a Host Family.
They decided to co-host a presentation in Mobile, and with their enthusiam and organization, the effort was a great success! Now along with the presentations, the Barnetts help facilitate JH Ranch reunions to gather those who have been before and to invite new friends who are interested in hearing more about the Ranch.
"The more families we can get to the Ranch, the better our world will be....that is why we are involved in the Host Family ministry of the JH Ranch," said Kim.
Kim finally made it to the JH Ranch this summer with Mike for the Husband/Wife week as they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. "There's no place we would rather be," stated the Barnetts. |
