Designed specifically for students who have completed the 7th and 8th grades, The Challenge Program targets
many of the goals of our Second Wind program for high school students. It is an "applied" program
designed to help students understand the practical side of the values they have been taught for so
many years. All areas of instruction throughout the program are tested, as students are placed into
"real-life situations" for the purpose of applying all that they hear.
Whether exploring the depths of a cave carved into California's Salmon Mountains or flying through
the trees on a 300-foot zipline, our Challenge program activities aim to illustrate leadership principles in
practical ways. You will experience the thrills of many Second Wind activities, as well as several
others that are unique to the Challenge program.
Application is the most important element in the understanding of any truth, principle, or skill.
Throughout the two-week experience, students are placed into "real-life situations" in order to
test and apply the things they hear. Students return home with learned principles rather than
just "more inspiration."
